To The Person Who Paid It Forward At A Rockford Goodwill

I've always been a "pay-it-forward" kind of person, but it's never really happened where someone is covering my bill, until now.

I was at the Goodwill on East State Street in Rockford waiting to checkout and the cashier told me not to put my card in the card reader yet.  He pulls out a few dollars and says, "the person before you left a few bucks to pay for other peoples' purchases so I'm going to add it to yours."

Like, what?!  That's so sweet!  I've always seen the pay-it-forward chain in drive thrus, but never at a thrift store.  That's a first.  Super sweet of whoever decided to do that!

So, I'm checking my pockets, and I don't have any loose bills on me to continue the train.  I felt so, so, so bad.  After I leave the store, I'm searching my car for any dollar bills and guess what?  I found $3.  That's the exact amount the last person left at the register to pay it forward.

Coincidence?  I think not!  I rush back inside and give the cashier my three bucks and he thanked me for continuing the streak.  It might not be much, but it's the thought that counts!

I hope good karma hits you like a train (I mean that in the best way possible!).

It's funny how the tiniest gestures and kindness in all forms can restore your faith in humanity, just a little bit.  Your $3 led to $6, which probably led to more after both of us paid it forward!

You not only made my day, but the cashier was ecstatic to tell me you paid it forward.  Thank you for being a generous human!  We deserve more people like you in this world.
