I have been driving past these things for a few years now and I couldn't quite figure out why they were there.

The "things" in question are what I can best describe as "CD Trees." It's definitely artsy, but that was about all I knew.

In case you're wondering, traveling north on Madison Street, on your right-hand side, you'll see the "CD Trees" on the fence outside Scandroli Construction Company.

Located at 855 North Madison Street, those "CD Trees" have been on the fence since 2016.

According to Weird Ass Rockford on YouTube:

This is a project that was brought about by some local artists" who wanted to do a "public art project...to represent the different seasons" including "blue discs representing the Rock River.

Of course, that was five years ago, and the weather has been unkind to the once super colorful leaf discs.

Now, a lot of the color is gone. Some of the leaf discs have either been picked off, or just busted by the elements.

The trees now look more like autumn is the only season across the fence, but I think the project should be revived. It's the perfect kind of weird and mysterious that all big cities need.

If Scandroli or another group of artists would like to bring all the seasons back to the fence, hit me up, I've got plenty of leaf discs to share.
