One of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences I've ever had was living with someone who was a foster mom for animals in need. As a matter of fact, that's how I met my dog Pip. A woman who I was renting a room from took in Pip after his owner was diagnosed with terminal cancer; one of her wishes before she passed was for us to give him a forever home. Five days after I moved into my house, Pip became a permanent member of my family.

I would do it all over again if I didn't already have two big dogs now and the space to accommodate them. If were up to me, I'd take in all the dogs and cats that need a place to call home but unfortunately I can't.  Maybe you can?

Winnebago County Animal Services is in need of volunteers and fosters to help with all the animals that are entering the shelter. Spring time is a busy time for them, especially with kittens and puppies, and they're hoping you can "make a huge difference in these animal's lives" by giving them a place to get a good start in life.

Volunteers must be 18 years old and pass a background check. If you're interested, you can apply here.
