Don't be mad at me, but if you were looking forward to getting some fresh air while doing some shopping that doesn't require a computer at Winnebago County Fairground's semi-annual Pec Thing, I have bad news for you...it's been cancelled...for the Spring.

We should have known this would happen since Governor Pritzker extended Illinois' stay-at-home order through the end of May, but seeing this message on the Winnebago County Fair's website still stung a little...

Due to Illinois Governor Pritzker’s mandate to extend the quarantine time, we are sorry to have to cancel The May 16th & 17th, 2020 Pec Thing. All Vendors will be contacted and fees will be advanced to the September 19th & 20th, 2020 Pec Thing. If you have any questions, please contact us via e-mail (preferred) info@winnebagocountyfair.com or by phone 815.239.1641 (limited office hours). Thank You all for your patience and flexibility Winnebago County Fairgrounds Directors and Office Staff

As of yet, the Winnebago County Fair Board has made no announcements regarding the fate of the 2020 Winnebago County Fair scheduled for August 19-23, but it might be smart to keep a close eye on their website and Facebook for future announcements.

So far, the Macon County Fair in Decatur is the only Illinois county fair that has announced a cancellation for 2020, but sadly, I don't think they will be the last. I sure hope I'm wrong though, we are all in need of some safe, family fun this summer.

Keep the faith and stay well, my friends!
