The state of Wisconsin is known for cheese but this Guinness World Record takes it to the next level.

If I want good cheese, I know to head north into Wisconsin.

People from there are called "Cheese Heads."

The fans of their pro football team wear "cheese hats."

Cheese is serious business and this just proves it.

According to foxnews.com,

"Though a two-ton cheese board may sound too gouda brie true, one real-life 4,437-pound smorgasbord has smashed a Guinness World Record for the world's largest cheese board."

It happened on August 2nd in Madison, Wisconsin.

  • 145 different varieties
  • 35 feet long and 7 feet wide
  • 60 workers
  • Broke old record by 1,000 pounds
  • Featured 2,000-pound wheel of cheddar
  • 45,000 people attended the event
  • First 2,000 received a cheese plate to-go

No cheese went to waste. People could sign up to win cheese benefitting the Great American Milk Drive. The leftover cheese was donated to the Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin.

The event was used to showcase the rich history of cheese in the state.
