Yelp’s Best Places in Rockford for National Cheddar Fries Day

National Cheddar Fries Day is celebrated annually on April 20th. Here are some great places, according to Yelp to have some golden fries topped with Wisconsin cheddar and more.

For the past 2 months, I've been searching for Rockford's finest french fries. That search has taken me to some of these places.

According to Yelp, these are the best places to get cheddar fries.

1. Beef-a-roo

Yelp user Elisa P. says, “Their cheese fries and their seasoning salt are some of the best I've ever had and I've traveled to the west coast and back.”

2. Vintage@501

Yelp user Royce E. says, "First off, the place looks great. They did a great job with the decor with Vintage. It's truly unlike any other place in Rockford."

3. Rockford Brewing Co.

Yelp user Joshua N. says, "A perfect summer day that was topped off with as close to a perfect dinner as we could have imagined. Sitting outside on their beautiful dock was only part of what made our dinner great."

While RBC doesn't serve traditional cheddar fires, the do serve poutine (fries, pork belly, cheese curds & gravy) and it's amazing

4. Old Chicago

Yelp user Alyssa R. says, "Excellent service, incredibly nice waitress. Food was delicious. Had a thick crust pizza and their peppered bacon fries."

Seasoned fries smothered in cheese sauce with peppered bacon pieces, garlic sauce, sour cream and diced tomatoes. Topped with green onions.

5. Granite City

The Idaho Nachos; waffle fries, topped with Colby Jack cheese, bacon, tomatoes, sour cream and green onions.

My friend and I shared the Idaho Nachos appetizer, which is a glorious combination of (pay a little extra and get their special sauce!) fried potatoes, bacon, sour cream, green onions, jack cheese, and tomatoes!"
