Sam Smith is easily one of the most recognizable voices in popular music today, but what do we really know about London-born Samuel Frederick Smith.

I fell in love with this man's voice the first time I heard "Latch" by Disclosure, Sam's 2012 breakthrough single in the UK, that didn't become a hit in the U.S. until this year. Before recording his first album, he appeared on another single called "La La La" by Naughty Boy and that became his first number one on the UK Top 100 chart. On Monday we discovered that Sam Smith was a part of Band Aid 30, the singers assembled to update "Do They Know It's Christmas" for the fight against Ebola.

Recently, US Magazine got Sam Smith to disclose "The 25 Things You Don't Know About Me", here are some of my favorites:

  • "I think celery is totally pointless."
  • "I love sleeping more than anyone else."
  • "I once got detention for skipping school to go to a Lady Gaga concert."
  • "I love cheese but I can't eat it because I'm told it's bad for my voice."
  • "I cannot do cartwheels."

The other 20 things you didn't know are here.

While Sam's silky smooth voice is killing the charts in America right now with the slow jam "I'm Not the Only One", it's this groove "Restart" from his debut album, "In The Lonely Hour" that I love most. This video was just released and shows Sam having the time of his life on AND off the stage.
