After spending a lot of last summer indoors, that sill not be the case this year. A road trip to Starved Rock State Park in Oglesby, Illinois might the way to satisfy everyones idea of fun. A task that can be hard for some families.

1. Taking a hike

There are 18 canyons around the park and since each was formed by a different stream,  they all hide a waterfall.

3. Get in the water

If it's a kayak, a canoe or a raft, get it in the water and lose time taking in all the beauty.

4. Get on your bike and ride

Many of the trails you can hike, you can also ride your bike.

5. Fishing the Illinois and Vermilion rivers.

You can bring your own boat or you can book a guided fishing tour.

6. Hit up nearby Matthiessen State Park

This park is good alternative is if Starved Rock is packed, or if you're staying in the area for a couple days. Its only 5 minutes away and also offers horseback riding trails.
