Christmas is just a little over a week away, and this means you'll be spending some time with long-lost relatives, maybe your new girlfriend's parents, friends you haven't seen in a year, you might want to make sure you're saying these phrases right before someone calls you out. That will be embarrassing.

Buzzfeed put out a list of 17 Common Phrase You've Probably Been Saying Wrong, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm not sure I was saying any of these correctly. Ok, maybe like two, but that's it. Whoops. It's ok, today I'm learning.

Here are some of the phrases, the wrong one first and the correct one second. I hear it takes repeating something seven times to get it right, good luck.

  • "for all intensive purposes" is really "for all intents and purposes"
  • "beckon call" is really "beck and call"
  • "tongue-and-cheek" is really "tongue-in-cheek"
  • "one in the same" is really "one and the same"
  • "I could care less" is really "I couldn't care less"
  • "statue of limitations" is really "statute of limitations"
