For the last few years Apple has been losing ground to competitors when it comes to getting high-tech, lowered price technology into classrooms across the nation, but they're hoping to to take the lead with a game-changing announcement today.

According to WGN TV, Apple has been busy prepping for a mystery announcement to be made at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) at Lane Tech High School located at 2501 W Addison St. in Chicago.

WGN says this announcement is expected to provide details on a "renewed emphasis on education", and that "The curriculum may include a lower-priced iPad and a variety of services tailored for students ranging from kindergarten through high school."

If you're wondering why Apple decided to hold this event in Chicago, here is the answer from Lane Tech High School.

It's obvious Apple is taking this new announcement very seriously, and I can't wait to hear what it is!
