It's another really, really hot day. If you're in serious need of a cool down, some nice people in the Rockford area are ready to help.

Six area locations are assuring residents' safety by offering free air conditioned facilities during periods of extreme heat.

The cooling centers will offer air conditioning when the National Weather Service issues an Excessive Heat Advisory or Warning. In addition, residents are encouraged to check-in on the well-being of senior relatives, friends, neighbors and others whose health might be affected by extreme heat.
