Less than a week ago the Belvidere Chrysler Plant announced it would be temporarily closing down for February. Apparently that wasn't the end of big announcements coming from the plant. Today, the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, FCA, has offered two voluntary separation packages to 3,900 employees, according to WREX.

One package is an incentive program to retire which includes a lump sum payment of $60,000. The other is a voluntary termination of employment which includes a lump sum based on seniority. Any employee who accepts a separation package will not be eligible for rehire. They have until March 11 to make a decision.

The upcoming shutdown will be the plant's third over a six month period.
