When it comes to fast food done well, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better place than this one in Illinois.

This joint is becoming so popular restaurants are popping up all over America.

You'll find them in Arizona, California, and the Midwest like Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

However, the real home for this place is in Illinois and apparently, way up at the top when people talk about their fast food choice.

In an attempt to figure out Illinois' best fast-food restaurant, Cheapism "Turned to a reliable (albeit occasionally flawed) system: Yelp, Google, and TripAdvisor reviews...and because nobody wants to read a list that says “Chick-fil-A” 50 times in a row, I opened this up to hyper-local fast-food joints as well, even if there’s only one location. Fast food is fast food."

We've got a Portillo's in Rockford and every time I cruise past that location it's always busy.

It's reviewed pretty well too. TripAdvisor gives the Rockford Portillo's a four out of five and one reviewer said "My Italian beef sandwich was to die for! I had a side order of fries and got a slice of chocolate cake to go. This place is always busy so you know the food is great."

Then again, not everyone is having a positive experience: "Having been to Portillos many times, we have come to expect good food, and something is amiss. Not sure if the new ownership has affected the quality of the food they serve, but the bread for the burgers tasted day old and the burgers themselves were cold...Most likely will not be back for awhile."
