Bulls’ Head Coach Jim Boylen Finally Fired

When you lose more games than you win, it's only a matter of time.

For some Chicago Bulls fans, it wasn't if but when Head Coach Jim Boylen would be shown the door.

Today was the day. Boylen and his 39-84 record are officially done as Head Coach of the Chicago Bulls.

Arturas Karnisovas, hired in April to take over the Bulls front office, released a statement today regarding the situation with Boylen:

After doing a comprehensive evaluation and giving the process the time it deserved, I ultimately decided that a fresh approach and evolution in leadership was necessary. This was a very difficult decision, but it is time for our franchise to take that next step as we move in a new direction and era of Chicago Bulls basketball.

Karnisovas also said that the search for the next coach of the Chicago Bulls will start immediately.

If you've watched the Bulls at all during the past few years, you know they have some talent. They're not championship material but certainly better than their record shows.

So the "evolution in leadership" Karnisovas mentions as a reason that led to Boylen's ouster had best come with wins.

Boylen's winning percentage with the Bulls made him the second least successful coach in franchise history behind historically bad Tim Floyd.
