You asked for it juicy, so here's a fully BAPTIZED ITALIAN BEEF

History of Buona Beef

Joe and Peggy Buonavolanto opened their first restaurant location in 1981 in Berwyn, the suburban city close to the start of historic Route 66. The success of that original Buona Beef location led to more than 25 locations throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

There's your dinner, now for your dessert?

History of Original Rainbow Cone

Another family-owned business, Original Rainbow Cone has been around for almost 100 years. Joseph and Katherine Sapp opened the first Rainbow Cone stand in 1926 in Chicago. One of their original creations is the Rainbow Cone, for those (like the Sapp's) who couldn't decide on what flavor to get, so why not 5 different flavors:

  • Chocolate
  • Strawberry
  • Pistachio
  • Orange sherbet.
  • Palmer House (New York vanilla with cherries and walnuts)

All this time we thought we wouldn't be able to try this place until its GRAND OPENING celebration on September 17, but...

THEY ARE OPEN NOW!

It's about to get tough to decide who has the best Italian beef in the Stateline. My favorites, Portillo's and Napoli's might not feel my love for a bit while me and my family get to know the beef and ice cream we've never had before.
