As if there is not enough going on in the world to worry about, people are getting concerning phone calls.

A Byron resident shared a concerning question in a private group asking if anyone else has received a suspicious phone call similar to one she received.

Was wondering if anyone else got a call today? When I answered it said that it was just a test but then went on to say Stay in your house and stay safe.

One person commented with "automated riot warning prep..." while someone else followed that comment with, "that doesn't sound too far fetched actually..." But, let's not ensue panic yet because it could have been tied into the Presidential election, which happened to some voters in Michigan.

One man told Washington Post he had received four robocalls like this in a single day.

When Zach McMullen received a call Monday telling him it was “time to stay home,” he assumed the warning was related to the coronavirus.

The article goes on to explain these calls have been happening since summer, but it would appear as though they might have increased during election day, which is a big no-no. Currently, the FBI and FCC are investigating the situation, according to the Washington Post.

“Attempts to hinder voters from exercising their right to cast their ballots are disheartening, disturbing, and wrong," James said in a statement. “What’s more is that it is illegal, and it will not be tolerated.”

If you received a call like this you should consider reporting this to the Attorney General's office and not 9-1-1.
