While that might be a bit of a stunner for us, especially if you're reading this in the Rockford area, the real headscratcher is the redacted part of the receipt.
At first, I was confused, thinking it was removed by the person sharing the receipt, but no, it was the server/bartender. The same person also blacked out the QR code at the top of the receipt.

Why? Because they automatically added a gratuity to the bill, redacted it, and left the 20% tip on the bill, hoping to confuse the customer with the intent of getting a tip on top of a tip.
I can't imagine the person who posted this receipt to Reddit returning any time soon, if ever.
As a former bartender, I was surprised to see that happen. Trust is everything in the service industry, and once it's broken, it's hard to rebuild.
This might be a one-off occurrence, but it's a great reminder to always double-check your bill. Otherwise, it's going to be a great night for a sneaky server.
