Chance the Rapper’s New $2.3M Bannockburn Mansion Needs Some Updating
The three-time Grammy Award-winning artist took a break from dropping mixtapes and dropped some roots and a couple million dollars.
Chance and his wife, Kristen, just bought a 9,251-square-foot, five-bedroom home in a town north of Chicago that I've never heard of before.
Chicago's most talented artist just purchased a new home for his family and I have no idea where it is
Bannockburn, Illinois... have you ever heard of this Chicagoland suburb?
Chance the Rapper (Chancelor Bennett) had been renting a smaller home just a few blocks away, but he had his eye on a different pice of property. One that would provide his family with a bit more privacy and acreage.
A home this big with this much land, including all the amenities, you would think would sell for much higher.
According to some information the Chicago Tribune found, the home has really struggled to find a buyer. They found the reason I think this house is in need of a lot of updating.
"The sellers, who paid $2.6 million for the mansion in 2004, concluded a more than nine-year effort to sell the home. They first listed the mansion in 2012 for $3.29 million and then cut their asking price to $3.1 million later that year and then to just below $3 million in 2013 before taking it off the market. They re-listed it in 2015 at $2.88 million and then cut their asking price to $2.77 million in 2016 before actually increasing their asking price to just under $2.9 million in 2017. More price cuts and another price increase followed before they also listed it for rent in 2020 at $10,500 a month. The sellers decreased their asking price to their final $2.35 million amount in November 2020."
This home has basically been on the market for nearly 10 years.
Don't get me wrong, this home is beautiful, but it needs some of that Bennett family loving.
