When it comes to lists like these, there's a part of me that feels a bit guilty.

I have to tell myself two things:

1. I didn't make the list.

B. It's not my fault an entire city is considered dumb.

That said, I'm not taking any great pleasure in sharing the findings but I will nevertheless show you the five dumbest cities in Illinois.

RoadSnacks shared a Detailed List of the Dumbest Cities in Illinois for 2023 and I have to say I was a tad surprised.

I'll tell you straight away not one city in the Rockford area made the list so that's a good thing. Only Belvidere made the top 20 (#15) and Rockford came in at #83 so that's got to be disappointing for the haters.

The bad? Well, it's Pinckneyville. Pinckneyville is considered the dumbest city in the state  Here's why according to RoadSnacks:

We came up with these criteria to determine the dumbest cities in Illinois:

% of the city’s population with less than a high school education (Age 25+)

% of city’s population with a college degree (Age 25+)

30% of the Pinckneyville population has dropped out of school and only 8% are considered "highly educated."

Where in the heck is Pinckneyville anyway? Looking up the city on Google Maps, Pinckneyville is about 30-40 minutes southeast of St. Louis so it's pretty far south in Illinois.
