Chicago Pizza Joint Using Ovens To Make Medical Supplies
One pizza joint in Chicago is doing more than feeding those on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic.
Dimo's Pizza, 1615 North Damen Avenue, is attempting to mold acrylic in their ovens that will eventually turn into life-saving shields for those in the healthcare field.
The pizza ovens heat the acrylic to the point it becomes malleable. Once hot enough the acrylic is set in a mold.
After the shields cool off, foam and Velcro are added to complete the project. Dimo's hopes to have "a final prototype" ready to go this week.
Dimo's has been plenty busy outside of their new shield making venture. They've supplied pizzas to many different Chicago area hospitals in hopes of keeping healthcare employee's spirits and stomachs full.
