Don’t Click That Link: Tollway Scam Still Circulating in Illinois
Can we talk about this Illinois Tollway scam that's still going around in Illinois?
It's 2025, how the heck are scams still a thing?
Earlier today, I got another text from a fake Illinois Tollway phone number trying to remind me that I need to pay my unpaid tolls. This is, apparently, my "final" notice before action is taken.
Arrest me. Find me. Sue me. Never in my life have I heard of people getting taken in by police because they haven't paid their toll balance. Absurd. I'd like to see you try me!

I mean, the messages do look kinda legitimate. Scammers will use phrases like "Illinois Tollway" and slap in a link that looks pretty real. The only reason I know this is completely fake is because I already paid my tolls on the official Tollway website.
Here's the text I got that said it was my final reminder.
What kind of legal action are we talking? I'd love to know. Of course, they don't specify to make you scared. Don't fall for it!
This is their attempt to get you into scammer territory and give all your personal information to someone who will drain your bank account for everything you're worth. Not worth it. Save your energy.
Warn your family, especially those who aren't as tech-savvy. This thing is still hot and heavy, and clearly not going away anytime soon. Stay sharp and double check everything. If it smells phishy, it probably is.
