Famous Christmas Movie Brought To Life At Illinois Museum
Museum in Illinois brings famous Christmas movie to life.
One Of The Greatest Christmas Movies Of All Time
One of my families' favorite holiday traditions is watching Christmas movies. There is a full list that is a must-see each and every year. Of course, you have "Elf," and "How A Grinch Stole Christmas," and "Fred Claus" to just name a couple.
There are two special ones that are above and beyond the rest of them. They are "A Christmas Story" and "Christmas Vacation."
Though it is very difficult to pick the best of that pair, I believe the National Lampoon classic might have a slight advantage.
Celebrating Your Favorite Christmas Movies
My wife and I recently made a trip to Cleveland for the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Of course, while we were there we also visited the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Museum. There was also another stop on our tour. It was the house from "A Christmas Story" movie. Yes, it is located in Ohio and filmed there. It was really cool to see in person.
Even though it would be really cool and probably super popular, unfortunately, there is not anything like that for "Christmas Vacation." There are some places you can visit that do pay homage to the holiday film classic.
Illinois Museum To Host Exhibit Featuring "Christmas Vacation"
If you have never experienced the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois, I recommend taking a road trip out there. They have so much more than just cars. One of my favorite sections of the museum is the "Hollywood" exhibit. Not only, do they have a bunch of famous movie vehicles on display but they also have a ton of props from films too.
For the holidays, the museum has set up a very special exhibit to honor "Christmas Vacation." It is open now through January 2nd.
According to volocars.com,
"The Volo Museum is tipping its Santa hat to a trio of National Lampoon’s film faves this holiday season, and you’re invited to the festive fun."
“We’re transforming the entryway to Showroom 1 into a temporary tribute to National Lampoon’s best-loved films.”
“We’ve got the 1959 Corvette from ‘Animal House,’ the family truckster from ‘Vacation’ and a ‘Christmas Vacation’ RV photo-op backdrop your cousin Eddie will love.”
Sounds like something I am going to have to check out for myself. A family photo in front of Cousin Eddie's RV could make the coolest Christmas card ever.
