Music from our state will be featured at a museum in Illinois.

Illinois Rocks

The state of Illinois has a deep history when it comes to music. Having a big city like Chicago and cool college towns like Champaign helps. There are great rock bands like Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagon, and Styx. Do not forget about the Blues artists like Buddy Guy. Plus, all the other genres.

It was announced last year that an Illinois Rock n Roll Hall of Fame will be opening sometime in the future in Joliet, Illinois. For more info about that, HERE.

As we patiently wait for that place to open up, another museum in Illinois will be featuring music from our community.

Illinois Music Honored

It's called “The State of Sound: A World of Music from Illinois.”

According to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Musem website,

"From Muddy Waters to REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick to Earth, Wind, and Fire, and Chance the Rapper, the Land of Lincoln has produced some of the most highly celebrated music in Rock history. Musicians, legendary radio stations, and musical gear have shaped the sonic history of Illinois and the world. This exhibit will showcase the achievements and contributions of Illinois’ finest in music."

The exhibit is being produced by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library. It will be on display in the Illinois Gallery which is 3,000-square-feet. Dave Hoekstra, author, documentary filmmaker, and former Sun-Times writer helped put it together.
