It wasn't until I got married that my relationship with my dad took a turn for the best. I was never a daddy's girl until the day I got married. While he didn't give a speech as he gave me away (I don't think he could form words over the crying), he gave the sweetest speech at our reception dinner; it was short and to the point, but they're words I won't ever forget. He said, "Mandy, the day you were born was the happiest day of my life, today is the proudest."
