Former 815 Resident Nominated For Academy Award
It’s not every day a former 815 resident gets nominated for an Academy Award, but today was one of those days.
Richard Jenkins, a DeKalb High School and later Illinois Wesleyan University graduate is up for his second Academy Award.
Jenkins was up for a Best Actor Oscar in 2008 for The Visitor. This time around, it’s in the Best Supporting Actor category, for The Shape of Water.
The Shape of Water was nominated for 13 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress (Sally Hawkins) and Best Director (Guillermo Del Toro).
We’ll find out if Jenkins can pick up his first Oscar when the awards are announced on Sunday, March 4.
