One of my most unforgettable moments was learning how to fly a plane.

I took a lesson at the Poplar Grove Airport and it was an experience that made me wish I was a pilot and had my own plane.

If you have kids in the family who wished they were pilots too, the EAA's Young Eagles program is giving kids age 8 through 17 a chance to take a free plane ride this weekend in Freeport.

Since 1992, more than 1.9 million Young Eagles have enjoyed a flight from EAA’s network of volunteer pilots.

The flights will take off from Freeport's Albertus Airport this Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and  "a parent/guardian must complete and sign a registration form before the flight."
