If you had to choose between Giordano's and Lou Malnati's for the ultimate deep-dish delight, which one would it be? You know, the choice that will define your entire existence and possibly alter the fabric of the universe. No pressure. Just remember, picking the wrong pizza might lead to eternal crust shame or, worse, endless debates with cheese fanatics. So, choose wisely—or don’t, and pretend you love thin crust.
For all of the 30 years I've lived in Rockford, Giordano's has been on Executive Pkwy (Just off Mulford Rd). I'm sure they have filled many bellies of people you adore.
Lou Malnati's has only been open in Rockford since February 2019, but their reputation dates back to 1971 when the first location opened in Lincolnwood, Illinois. This buttery-crusted deep-dish pizza can be found at 6240 Mulford Village Dr.
A couple of things about the results surprised me:
1. These two pizzerias are in a tug of war with one another for space in our stomachs. The votes were pretty close.
2. Lou's got a few "thumbs down" votes and I can relate to why
The comments that followed the "thumbs down" vote for Lou Malnati's came from fans of the pizza, but they all had the same complaint. And so do I.
I can't speak for others but it appears to some that the pizza from a sit-down Lou Malnati's restaurant is better than what is made in Rockford's carryout-only location.
I can make that claim as well, but mine was due to not understanding the app ordering process as it was different than ordering from the menu in the restaurant. I'd only been to Lou Malnati's once and didn't know this ONE CRUCIAL FACT about how you order sausage on your pizza.
If YOU could only pick one, which deep-dish would it be?
