Tis the season for tricks and treats, beware of some tricks that could do a lot of harm if you get scammed this spooky season. 

We are a few weeks away from the biggest candy day of the year, but there's some negativity that goes along with the sweetness, the potential scams that could trick you this Halloween season.

No one likes to be scammed, so even if you think you won't get tricked, it's always good to take a look at a list like this from Bonus.com.

Bonus.com lists the top five scams we need to look out for this Halloween season on their website.

  1. Counterfeit or fake Halloween products - as in, real knives masquerading as toys or costumes that might be highly flammable.
  2. Fake 'winning' notifications - in the last few years scammers have figured out how to send fake text notifications about vouchers or contests that are not real.
  3. Delivery scams or package theft alerts - links sent via email or text telling you about a package you didn't actually order
  4. Phishing texts or email - more links, this time claiming special offers or requesting account verification
  5. Fake customer service scams - attempt from scammers to steal personal information money or access to your phone

While Halloween might bring us more options to be scammed with products and costumes, most of these can wreak havoc on us throughout the entire year, especially as we get closer to the big holidays, so be aware!
