All three of Rockford's casino proposals include establishing a temporary location to begin casino operations while construction is underway on the actual sites, but the Hard Rock Casino Group is the only one to say they would be renovating an existing business to accommodate their temporary casino.

According to the Rockford Register Star, Hard Rock has chosen Giovanni's as their temporary casino site.

Hard Rock officials say the company would, within in 90 days of getting the license, spend $8 million to turn Giovanni’s Restaurant & Convention Center, 610 N. Bell School Road, into a 37,790-square-foot temporary casino. Giovanni’s banquet space would be turned into a 20,965-square-foot casino floor with 736 slot machines. Alchemy and Legacy restaurants would remain open. The facility also would feature a 1,000-square-foot retail “Rock Shop.”

Giovanni's chef and co-owner, Al Castrogiovanni, told the RRStar that once construction is complete on Hard Rock Rockford, the temporary casino space at Giovanni's would revert back to banquet space.

So, my only question now is; what happens if I was getting married next year and walked into Giovanni's today to book my reception...would they tell me the space is unavailable?  Hmmm....
