Birthday parades are the new normal. With quarantine in place, the way we seem to celebrate birthdays now is by decorating our cars and driving by like a parade! It's a super cute idea and the one's I've seen are awesome.

Now it's time to give a very famous Rockfordian a birthday parade. Rockford Peach Helen ‘Sis’ Waddell. She will be turning 90 years old later this week, and that definitely deserves some celebrating.

She currently lives at the Heritage Woods senior assisted living facility on the east side of Rockford and her son is asking we go there this weekend to help celebrate with a drive-thru parade.

People can drive by Heritage Woods through the circular drive in front of the building while Waddell watches from her window. You can decorate signs for you car, attach balloons, turn the music up, or just wave out the window.

According to WTVO -

We’re going to have music from the movie ‘A League Of Their Own’ playing the whole time, and we’re going to give Helen a mic inside her room, so she can talk to people (via speaker).

The birthday parade is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. this Saturday, April 25. It’s at Heritage Woods senior assisted living facility at 202 North ShowPlace Drive on the north side of State Street just north of Showplace 16.
