It's not just a town of almost 1,500 people—it's one of the cutest small towns I've ever visited in Illinois.  Have you been here?

I love, love, love hiking and Utica, Illinois is the gateway to two of my all-time favorite hiking spots: Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Park.  Doesn't matter if it's fall, spring, or summer, you'll always find me hiking at one of 'em!

"North Utica, often referred to as just Utica, is a lovely town in north-central Illinois, well-known for its scenic surroundings and outdoor pursuits. Several state parks, notably Starved Rock State Park and Matthiessen State Park, are nearby the town and provide excellent hiking and camping options." [hcdestinations]

Before you even get to the trails, you pass through some adorable local shops, ice cream parlors, dive bars, and my new favorite place: Lasalle County's Historical Society.  They host a ton of different markets and events for guests all around the region!

I happened to be in town during Antiquin' Weekend hosted by Canal Market.

It's wild because going thrifting and shopping at antique stores are literally my favorite hobbies.  Antiquin' Weekend was an artisan market with a variety of vendors, treasures, and so many handmade goods to buy from local artists.

From vintage bottles, to trinkets, and jewelry, all the vendors had different items for pretty much any kind of thrifter.  They knew I was coming!
