And it wasn't even my first time.

'Twas my second time pole dancing Saturday at my friend's bachelorette party, and I'm not even kidding it hurts to type this right now because I'm so sore.

Arms, back, abs, pole dancing is a crazy complete workout and it's totally not as risque as it sounds.

We went to a place in Chicago that is a women's fitness center, they do all kinds of workout class, free weight, cardio, and pole dancing. There's also a bar and a nail salon. It's pretty amazing,

The first time I went to a pole dancing class was in Milwaukee last September. After that class, I couldn't listen to Jessie J's "Bang, Bang" quite the same. This time, though it was more athletic, and we were learning the pole skills to Maroon 5's "Sugar" and Sheppard's "Geronimo."

It wasn't even five minutes into the class and I got an insta-bruise.

There's a chance I wasn't doing it right.

That's a picture of what it looks like today, two days removed from the class, and I also have a huge blue bruise on my left side-knee.

How did I do that?

Well, professional pole dancers would know that you're supposed to grab on to the pole with your hand and your wrist and your legs do most of the work.

Amateur pole twirlers (there's no way you can call us dancers) aren't always so clear on the technique. I think I was holding the pole with my entire forearm, for fear of falling off the pole.

I believe this happened while I was attempting to spin backwards.

This might be a sign... maybe I should stay off the pole and instead keep my dancing to Beyonce songs on speakers with Steve Shannon DJ-ing events.
