Before you get the wrong idea, the eagle was deceased and on the ground, but it's still illegal to take one home, regardless of condition.

The IDNR said in a Facebook post Monday that on Sunday the IDNR received a report of a dead, adult Bald eagle in the county. When officials arrived, the eagle was gone.

It's against state and federal law to have a Bald eagle, or parts of a Bald eagle.

The IDNR says official checked the area thoroughly for wildlife tracks and evidence collected at the scene led the IDNR to believe a person took the Bald eagle.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the eagle are asked to Call CPO Murry at 779-400-6154 or email Nathan.Murry@illinois.gov.
