Illinois has 130 haunted locations, which feels about right considering how many of us have accidentally walked through a cornfield at night. From the famously haunted Congress Plaza Hotel in Chicago to the Bachelor’s Grove Cemetery in Midlothian and Ashmore Estates near Charleston, the supernatural vibes are strong.

Turns out, ghosts aren’t our only visitors. Illinois skies have hosted 1,447 UFO sightings, probably aliens wondering why our gas prices are so high. Add in 82 ghost towns, and it’s clear we’ve got enough eerie history to keep “Ghost Adventures” busy until the next century.
