Illinois Might be Getting an Anti-bullying Hotline
Bullying has become an even greater issue than it always has been in recent years. Between social media and the internet, there are new opportunities for kids to get bullied even from the safety of their own home.
Rep. John Cabello has introduced legislation that would give youth a safe resource to report bullying incidents or hazing in schools. It was approved Wednesday by the State Government Administration Committee. It now moves to the House for a full vote. WREX details -
House Bill 2786 would allow school-aged children under the age of 18 to use a statewide toll free child abuse hotline to report bullying or hazing. The bill requires the Department of Children and Family Services to provide callers with information no how to handle the situation and to report the incident to the superintendent of the school district. In the case of a private school, the administrator of the school would be notified.

may be used by children under the age of 18 to report bullying and hazing incidents, and post information on how a child can report an alleged incident of bullying or hazing via the hotline on a prominent place on the Department’s website.
This is a huge step for anti-bullying in Illinois and I can't wait to see what happens next.
