World Cup fever is sweeping across the world, and for many fans, attending a match is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  Unfortunately, scammers know that too, and they're taking advantage of the excitement by selling fake tickets or reselling tickets that don't actually exist.

With high demand for World Cup tickets, many fans are turning to resale websites, social media groups, and online marketplaces in hopes of finding a deal.  While some sellers are legitimate, others are looking to make a quick buck by offering counterfeit tickets or tickets that have already been sold to someone else.

One of the biggest warning signs is a price that seems too good to be true.

If tickets for a highly anticipated match are selling for hundreds or even thousands of dollars everywhere else, a deeply discounted offer should raise red flags.  Scammers often use low prices to create urgency and convince buyers to act fast before they have time to verify the listing.

Another common tactic is requesting payment through apps, wire transfers, gift cards, or other methods that offer little to no buyer protection.  Once the money is sent, recovering it can be nearly impossible.

Before purchasing World Cup tickets, make sure you're using an official ticketing platform or trusted resale partners.  Research the seller, read reviews, and avoid anyone pressuring you to complete the transaction immediately.  If a seller refuses to provide proof of purchase or can't answer basic questions about the tickets, walk away.
