Putting ketchup on a hot dog or car, which one is worse in Illinois?

Ketchup Is A No-No In Illinois

I have lived in Illinois my whole life and still to this day, I have no idea why Illinois hates ketchup and what the state has against the popular condiment. I personally enjoy a little ketchup and certain foods. Unfortunately, leave it in the fridge while you are in the Land of Lincoln.

Kind of like not feeding a Gremlin after midnight, never ever put ketchup on a hot dog in Illinois. That could be a cause for a fight. I like to be a rebel, so I will put ketchup on them but people get upset. It is just a thing in our state. The Chicago Style Hot Dog has just about every condiment imaginable on it but ketchup.

Do Not Put Ketchup On A Car Either

When they say to not put ketchup on anything in Illinois, that does include cars too. In fact, I highly suggest not putting any condiments on your vehicle. It could do some serious damage to your paint job. It is not an official law or anything but it is a really good rule to follow.

Many years ago, we had some visitors staying with us. Since I have to leave really early in the morning for work and we only have a single-car driveway, I parked on the street for a couple of days. One day, I came out to find my vehicle covered with ketchup and mustard. It was not easy to clean up. It took a couple of trips through the carwash to get it off. If you do not remove it quickly and effectively, it could seriously damage your paint.

I understand you might be thinking to yourself, "what's the ketchup treatment." Well, that is easy to explain. You do not want ketchup on your hot dog. Putting it on there is bad. People will consider the dog ruined or even vandalized with the condiment included on it. Well, the same goes for a car.
