This is the ultimate get-away-from-it-all place. Many claim it's the most remote place in the state of Missouri. They may be right. One thing is certain. It's beyond beautiful.

This was the result of a fun Google search where I wondered out loud what the most remote location in Missouri is. I found multiple sites that agreed it's this one. A-Z Animals named it #1 on their 12 most remote Missouri places list and so did Only In Your State.

What is Missouri's most remote place?

The general internet consensus is Hercules Glades Wilderness Area. This area was set aside way back in 1976 and the Missouri Department of Conservation describes it like this:

open grassland, forested knobs, steep rocky hillsides, and narrow drainages offers unusual beauty and a measure of solitude within easy reach of wilderness lovers.

They're not wrong about the solitude either. There are creeks and waterfalls everywhere.

A couple of hikers recently visited Hercules Glades Wilderness Area in Missouri and shared their adventure.

Here's how out in the middle of nowhere Hercules Glades Wilderness Area is.

If you think this is an off-the-beaten-path adventure you'd like to explore, make sure to check out the Missouri Department of Conservation site first. If you have the time and ability to get there, I can't think of a better place in Missouri to get away from it all.
