29 Dangerous Candies to Avoid in Missouri & Illinois on Halloween

I remember the era when you could go door to door and virtually never encounter any kind of dangerous candy on Halloween. Those days are long gone and there are specifically 29 dangerous variations of candy widely available in Missouri and Illinois that you should watch out for.

In case you don't recall, there was one of the biggest candy recalls in history earlier in 2024. The Food and Drug Administration issued a bulletin only a couple months ago that not only did not rescind the recall, but escalated it to a more urgent level as samples had tested positive for highly-dangerous Salmonella contamination.

The recall affected 29 different variations of Palmer Candies including the following:

Several variations of this candy were only available in Missouri and had Mizzou branded themes, too. Many of these candies were still available in stores only a few weeks ago and easily could be featured in a Halloween grab bag of treats.

It's obviously next to impossible to know if these treat bowl or bag being offered is one of the recalled candies. If I were you, I'd avoid any white confectionary covered treat as that's the main ingredient that was associated with the Salmonella contamination.
