The All-American Burger

There's just something delicious and all-American about a burger.  According to History, more than 50 billion (yes, with a B) burgers are served up annually in the United States alone.  While there seems to be a bit of controversy between Wisconsin, Connecticut, Ohio, New York, and Texas regarding where the first burger originated, we know that cheeseburgers were invented a little later in Pasadena, California.

According to Visit Pasadena, the first hamburger with cheese appeared on a menu in 1924.

The cheeseburger's genesis can be traced back to 1924 in Pasadena, California. It was the first time "The Original Hamburger with Cheese" appeared on a menu. The legend takes us to Colorado Boulevard (then Route 66), where The Rite Spot once stood and the cheeseburger was born. It cost a whopping $0.15.

With all of the burger options available today, it's hard to pick just one as the best.  I myself have about 3 or 4 that are tied for my favorite burger.   However, recently Reader's Digest named the best burger in every state, and the one they chose for Indiana has 10 locations across the Hoosier state, including one here in Evansville.

With nine locations in Indiana, plus extra in Kentucky and Ohio, Bru Burger Bar is a convenient place to stop when you’re in the Midwest. Featuring a signature grind of sirloin, chuck, and brisket, plus locally sourced produce (some even grown in Bru’s own greenhouse), the chef-crafted burgers will have your mouth watering in no time. Cheese lovers should look out for the Garlic Three-Cheese, a combination of Swiss, American, mozzarella, roasted garlic, and truffle aioli that makes for a decadent dining experience.

So what do you think, did they get it right? Is Bru Burger the best burger in Indiana?  It's all subjective to different taste preferences of course, but I can say I've never gone to Bru Burger and been disappointed!
