The very first time any member of The Beatles Performed In The United States was in Illinois.

The Biggest Band In The World And Of All Time

A couple of weeks ago, one of my friends asked me who I thought was the biggest and most famous band ever. The answer was really easy, The Beatles. They are still as relevant and popular today as they were back in the day. I've been really getting into documentaries about the band and its members lately. I want to learn more about the history of this important group. Recently, I heard a story about an early connection they had with Illinois that I never knew about.

According to pjstar.com,

In the early days, The Beatles were massive in England but weren't known yet in the United States. The members couldn't go anywhere in public without being swarmed by fans. They were taking some time off and George Harrison really needed a break. Since he couldn't do that at home, a vacation out of the country was needed. He decided to visit his Sister, Louise. She lived in Benton, Illinois (in the southern part of the state).

George Harrison's Adventure In Illinois

He, Louise, and their brother Peter hiked through Garden of the Gods and went to George's first drive-in movie.

The Beatle even bought a Rickenbacker guitar while he was in town, and one night, at the Eldorado VFW, he hopped on stage to play a few tunes with the local band The Four Vests.
