Big Changes Could Be Coming For Cannabis Regulations In Illinois
The cannabis industry in Illinois will most likely experience some major changes very soon in the regulations of marijuana and its related products.
New Regulations Coming For The Illinois Cannabis Industry
It's hard to believe that legal recreational marijuana is celebrating its 5th anniversary in Illinois. I can still remember how bad the weather was on January 1st, 2020. There was extreme cold, wind, snow, ice, and more.

Those winter conditions didn't stop the thousands of customers who stood in line outside for several hours to be one of the first residents of Illinois to purchase legal weed. The cannabis business hasn't stopped growing ever since.

The cannabis business has been generating millions of dollars over the past five years. The supply has finally caught up with the demand with new dispensaries popping up all over the state.
Just like anything else, even with the huge success, there are flaws in the cannabis industry in Illinois. There are intoxicating hemp products that slipped through the cracks and aren't regulated the same as marijuana. They can be dangerous so the laws will change soon to include these products. Here's what the new regulations look like.
- Regulating intoxicating hemp products like legal cannabis.
- Banning packaging that imitates popular candy and food products.
- Banning marketing that appeals to children.
- Safe packaging required for intoxicating hemp products.
- Testing and taxing regulations similar to CRTA.
- Intoxicating hemp products only sold at licensed dispensaries (no gas stations, smoke shops, or stand-alone Delta 8 shops).
- Must be 21 or older to purchase intoxicating hemp products.
- Create the position of hemp consumer product processor license to allow current hemp processors to sell into adult-use cannabis dispensaries.
