Why Wisconsin’s Candy Cane Lane Is a Must-See Holiday Drive This Year

Did you know there is an entire neighborhood in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that goes all out each Christmas to help raise money for childhood cancer? Me either, until today, and now I can't wait to see it for myself!

Hopping in the car and driving around to look at Christmas lights is one of my favorite things to do with my family each holiday season. Seeing beautifully decorated homes with twinkling Christmas trees in windows is so peaceful to me, and I'm always up for going on a road trip to see something new.

This year, I'll be telling my husband he needs to take us to Candy Cane Lane in West Allis, Wisconsin so we can visit Candy Cane Lane.

Candy Cane Lane began in the mid 1980s when a few neighbors decided to go all out decorating their yards for Christmas and to dress up as Santa and elves to hand out candy canes to visitors. Fast forward 40 plus years, and Candy Cane Lane has grown to over 300 festive homes teaming up to raise money for MACC Fund — Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer, a non-profit group that funds childhood cancer research.

In the last 40 years, Candy Cane Lane has raised over 1 million dollars for the MACC Fund, and they're already off to an amazing start in 2025.

Plan a Visit to Candy Cane Lane

Candy Cane Lane is located in the neighborhood bordered by 96th Street on the west, 92nd Street on the east, Montana Avenue on the north, and Oklahoma Avenue on the south in West Allis, Wisconsin. All displays are open from 6 to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 5 to 10 p.m. on weekends and on December 24 and 25. There's no charge to enter Candy Cane Lane, but please don't forget to drop some money in the donation boxes as a thank you for the neighborhood's hard work.
