The identity of a man who was killed in a head-on collision this past weekend in Belvidere has been revealed following an autopsy by the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.

According to the press release, the fatal crash happened on Saturday morning (1/21) around 7:30 am when two vehicles collided in the 9700 block of Route 76.

The driver in one of the vehicles who was killed in the crash has been identified as 74-year-old Steven Pulkrabek of Roscoe, Illinois. He was the only occupant in his vehicle, according to the press release.

Following the crash, Mr. Pulkrabek was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for his injuries but despite all efforts by medical staff, he was pronounced dead at 1:02 pm on Saturday (1/21).

An autopsy was conducted by the Winnebago County Coroner where the cause of death was determined to be "blunt trauma of the abdomen due to the motor vehicle crash."

The crash investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the Boone County Sheriff's Office.
