Joann Fabrics Officially Closing All Remaining Stores In Illinois
After a long wait, the news broke that Joann Fabrics is officially closing all their remaining stores, including those in Illinois.
Earlier this month, Joann's said they'd be closing only 500 stores and leaving roughly 300 open, in hopes they could find a buyer to keep their locations open. According to a representative, they made every possible effort to pursue an outcome that'd keep the company in business.
The one location in Rockford, Illinois hasn't been open for that long since their relocation just a few years ago. As a loyal Joann's customer and fan of crafting, I hate to see the Rockford location close forever. There's nowhere in the city that offers the kind of crafting products quite like Joann Fabrics.
I spoke to the manager at the Rockford location just a few weeks ago and she has been with the company for 30 years. She told me she loves working with the public and knowing her for many years she is truly dedicated to her job. It's really sad to see such wonderful people lose their jobs.
"We deeply appreciate our dedicated team members, our customers and communities across the nation for their unwavering support for more than 80 years," the company said. [cbsnews]
If you have gift cards still to use at Joann Fabrics, make sure to use them by February 28th. Markdowns have already begun on the website on yarn, sewing supplies, home decor, and sewing machines.
Though there may be online competitors, there's nothing like walking into a craft store the size of Joann Fabrics and letting your creativity just flow.
No set closing date has been announced, but discounts are in full swing.
