I've watched enough court room dramas to know that it's never a good sign when the defense attorney suddenly drops his client. It doesn't take someone with a law degree to know that when something like this happens, it usually means they found out some information after-the-fact that would lead the defense team to believe that they were misled by their client and could potentially cause them to lose the case.

Sounds like that might be the case for Thomas Eoannou, the now former attorney for the woman who accused Patrick Kane of sexual assault this summer. Eoannou quit the case after an evidence bag from a rape kit reportedly was found at the residence of the alleged victim’s mother.  There was also other new information that his office received that planted a seed of doubt regarding the chain of events that were given to him by the victim's family. No major details have been released about the case, but Eoannou did give a statement regarding his decision to drop his client.

This whole thing with the evidence bag with the rape kit sounds fishy to me. That's not to say that the allegations against Kane aren't true, but doesn't it seem weird that an evidence bag would end up in the victim's mother's possession?

How do you think this will affect the case against Kane?
