Macy's Will Close Illinois Locations, is Rockford One of them?

Someone play "Another One Bites The Dust." Macy's is the latest retail giant to join the long list of stores leaving malls around the country. Illinois is set to lose two Macy's stores in the first few months of 2020. Will Rockford lose their Macy's?

It looks like we're safe ... for now. So far the two closing will be these two locations -

Carbondale: University Mall
West Dundee: Spring Hill Mall

So Rockford is safe. I, however, live in West Dundee, so I'm losing my Macy's. The Patch details -

Macy's is part of a growing list of brick-and-mortar establishments that have seen a nosedive in revenue and popularity with the emergence of e-commerce companies such as Amazon and Walmart.

So if you're a Macy's lover in Rockford, you're all good for now. But it's looking like by 2021 malls will seem more like retail graveyards.
