When you go the movies, you might want to turn your phone off.

Problem is, not everyone pays attention to that unwritten rule.

According to Mashable, "a man who asked a woman to turn off her cell phone at a Monday night screening of Mr. Turner was maced in the face following an awkward confrontation."

The incident occurred during an America Film Institute screening of Mr. Turner at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles.

After repeated attempts to get the woman to shut her phone off, the man tapped her on the shoulder.

This is when things got weird, an eyewitness tells Mashable:

"She stands up and starts cursing, saying 'You hit me, you hit me, I'm going to call the police."

She didn't call the police, she consulted her mace instead.

I imagine that it might have looked like this.

Reports also include that the mace spraying text-er sat back down and kept watching the movie. Later, theater security escorted the woman out of the venue.

Moral of the story? Asking someone to turn off their phone during a movie might result in a face full of mace.
