Man Ignores Warning Falls Nearly 50 Feet to His Death at Starved Rock

A man fell from an overhang and died, on Saturday, at Starved Rock State Park in LaSalle County.

A 30-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, was in the park with a film crew Saturday morning when the accident occurred.

According to Illinois Conservation Police Sgt. Phil Wire, the man and his film crew had permit to film in the park but they did not have permission to leave the trails. Walking off the trail is what lead to the man's 48 foot plunge off an overhang.

In the last month, much has been said about Starved Rock's deteriorating sandstone and many trails were being closed because he danger of falling was high.
