A Magical Big Top Circus Is Popping Up in Chicago Parks This Fall—And It’s Only $5
I’ve never been to this before, but I already want to pack snacks, round up the kids, and go.
What Is Midnight Circus in the Parks?
The Midnight Circus in the Parks is back this September, setting up its vintage-style big top across Chicago (and for the first time, Evanston). For just $5 a ticket in some locations, you can see elite-level acrobats, tightrope walkers, trapeze artists… even a few talented dogs. This isn’t some dusty sideshow. We’re talking Cirque du Soleil performers. And yes, some of the founders’ own kids are part of the act.
They’ve been doing this since 2007, and here’s what I love: they bring the circus to the neighborhoods. That means families who might never get a chance to experience something like this suddenly find themselves front row under a real circus tent. They even hold special performances for kids and families in the care of Illinois DCFS.

When & Where to Catch the Big Top This Fall
This year’s tour kicks off Saturday, Sept. 6, at Grand Crossing Park in Chicago. Other shows run throughout September at Jefferson Park, Welles Park in Lincoln Square, and Tallmadge Park in Evanston—home of The Actors Gymnasium, where they train real-life circus performers.
Why Rockford Families Should Make the Trip
It’s fun, it’s affordable, and it’s one of those "worth-the-drive" experiences that could become a family tradition.
🎟️ Tickets go on sale Monday (7/14) at 9 a.m. here.
